I loved last July

                                                               July 2011:

My favorite time of year! What more could you want? It’s warm, you go to the beach, and there’s my favorite holiday, the 4th of July.

Last year’s 4th of July was a bunch of ridiculousness!!! My bff and I kicked it off as a whole weekend event.  We went to the beach & drank, watched the Worcester fireworks, went to karaoke, and drank some more.  On the actual 4th, Sabrina and I started it up with some road soda’s on our way into Boston. We parked, got drunk, and roamed Boston.  We had a ball make puppets do dirty things to one another in the coolest store in Faneuil Hall, Fun Usual.  We ended up on the Cambridge side of the Charles River to watch the fireworks! It was great! This year, we are not moving from our spot!!!

July also had some fun parties and trips, for starters, the annual beer Olympics at Nicky’s house. Here I learned that I could drink about 25 beers and still stand up! My team did alright. We didn’t win but one of our players got Most Drunk Player (MVP).

The morning after the beer Olympics, we had to get up super early to go to Martha’s Vineyard.  I wasn’t extremely hungover but I wasn’t feeling too great after downing 25 beers and not sleeping much.  It was a great time though and my first time on the Vineyard.  I introduced all my non American friends to fried pickles before passing out on the beach for the remainder of the day! Hopefully someday I get to go back and actually get to see the place!

I got to go surf for a 2nd time!

My indoor soccer team also managed to win the championships that session! Go team go!

The worst part of July was saying goodbye to some great people! I spent a good two months with them and got really close to them and having to say goodbye was horrible! I can’t wait until they come back though so we can get crazy and ridiculous again!!!

Parties, Mud and GO Bs!!!

June 2011:

Spain vs. USA soccer game – I really wish I remembered more of this! Or do I? We met early at Rick’s house and had some beers and lunch before heading to Gillette for the game.  We rented 2 vans to take us there and back.  Luckily we had a preggers and someone who didn’t drink to take us to the game.  The ride there is a little fuzzy except for when we pulled over to go pee in the woods as a team! I don’t really remember the tailgating other than there was a soccer ball and more drinks and grilling.  I don’t remember the game whatsoever but heard my team, Spain, had won! We post-tailgated for a bit as the place cleared out and took the van back to Rick’s, both of which I still don’t remember.  Back at Rick’s it got crazier, however, I was trying to sober up so that I could drive home. I eventually left there somewhat early only to find out that a fight broke loose and someone had broken Rick’s window! Clearly I missed a shit show!!!
Warrior Dash – My first mud obstacle race took place in June! I ran the warrior dash! It was a lot of fun but somewhat disappointing.  It was missing a lot of the obstacles it said they were going to have.  And the ones they did have were half assed.  If you hadn’t read the information, you probably wouldn’t have noticed anything missing and if you have never ran one of these before, you probably wouldn’t have realized how half ass anything was.  All in all, it was a fun time! I didn’t get poison ivy as a ton of people did and I didn’t break anything which is always a good thing!   The parking was poorly organized. I missed my heat because I was in 2 hours of traffic.

Alex’s birthday – One of my French friend’s birthdays was in June.  It was your typical adult birthday party; drinking, food, and more drinking.  I thought it would be great to get the most embarrassing picture of him I could find and have kiwi’s put around it (funny nickname) and have written on it “Happy Birthday Kiwi” and then “Joyeux anniversaire champion” (Champion, another nickname)…it was epic!

Lowell Spinners - attended my first Lowell Spinners game with Sabrina, Crystal L, and Crystal H! For those of you who don't know this team, they are the minor league baseball team!

We were surprised with a visit from Sandra, a German girl who played soccer with us last year while she was temporarily working in the United States.  It was a nice surprise to see her! On a side note, I’ll be seeing her this year when I go to London! Soooo excited!

BRUINS WIN THE STANLEY CUP – Probably the best part of June was the fact that the Bruins won the Stanley Cup! I watched every game and went to the parade they had in Boston! Good times with good friends.  When they won, we were all pretty drunk and went to the sketchy bar up the street from my house.  It was really cheap (as is any sketchy bar) but sketchy.  I mean, who lets dogs into their bar?

An Update on my life.....

I know I promised two months ago an update but if you lived my life, you’d understand.  I simply don’t have the time.  And on the rare occasion I do, I’m busy! So here’s the recap you’ve been waiting for.  Be prepared for several updates….

We kick this off going back to May 2011.  May had a lot of ups and downs (mostly ups but you can’t forget the gloominess that occurred).  A couple friends and I took part in the Great Urban Race. It’s a scavenger hunt race that takes you all over Boston.  How the top finishers completed all the clues and tasks in the amount of time it took them is beyond me! Of course, it doesn’t help that every time we saw a bar we stopped in either!  It was a rainy day but that didn’t stop us; we were walking around in the puddles and having a grand old time.  That is, until one of our French friends called to say his father was dying.  Ya, that “down” part of the month, pretty depressing!  Needless to say, he didn’t want to be alone and we really wanted to be with him during this difficult time. A few days later, his father passed away.  Absolutely broke my heart.  I tried getting his mind off of things by inviting him to the Celtics playoff game. He loves the Celtics and what better way to try and lighten your mood by cheering them on as they try to advance through the playoffs? He had a good time considering but you could clearly tell that he was not feeling the game.  At least it was a good distraction for the time being.

During May I also went to the Bedford, MA airport to take a flying lesson! It was awesome! You need 35 hours before you can get your pilot license so now I only need 34.5 to go! Haha! J They first go over the checklist that you have before every flight to ensure you are safe to fly.  It was a couple to several pages long. After that, we hopped inside the plane and he went over what we were going to do while he also talked me through it.  To get to the runway, you have to steer the plane over using your feet.  Unlike driving your car and using a steering wheel to direct where you are going, you use your feet. Luckily for me I have great muscular legs so steering the plane was a breeze.  My instructor was impressed with my skills because he said most people can’t stay in a straight line at all! I was pretty proud of myself.  So then I took off with no help from him! It was a great feeling! We drove over Gillette Stadium and then headed back.  He did the landing himself.  Apparently that takes more skills but I told him that I probably could’ve done that also! All in all, it was great!  After flying, I went to the Filios’ house to party! Our spring, summer, and fall’s consist of parties at their house or another soccer friend’s house.  It’s always a shit show.  That night consisted of screaming off the top of our lungs in a dive bar down the street from them.  And I probably shouldn’t blame anyone else for this except Mike and I as it was the two of us who almost got kicked out for doing it.

May also kicked off my summer with my international friends.  I basically spent the whole summer with several Frenchies, a Bulgarian, a German girl, and a girl from Holland.  It was the best summer I’ve ever had.  I pretty much drove up to Boston weekly if not several times a week.  This started off in May with a night out to the Phoenix Landing.  I don’t need to get into details about this night but I can tell you, it was ridiculous.

Memorial weekend is also a big weekend for me every year! I love camping and always try to go during this weekend.  This year I invited a ton of my friends to go to New York.  We were close to a beer trail so we ended up at 2 breweries, a winery and a cider mill. I was pretty drunk this entire trip! In fact, I think we all were. We played tag in the dark, apples to apples, drank (and some even had hash) with the owners of the campground, got yelled at several times each night, and at one point everyone got naked except for me.  Yes, I said naked. And yes, I said everyone except me.  I’m down for most things but I just wasn’t feeling it that night.  After the weekend was over, I couldn’t wait until Memorial weekend 2012.
